He received his degree in mathematics, his MSc in Informatics and Operations Research and his PhD in Theoretical Informatics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), in 1990, 1992 and 1999, respectively. He began studying dynamical systems and morphologic fractions during his postgraduate studies and has received a scholarship from the Bodossaki Foundation as financial support for studies towards a PhD. After completing his PhD, he received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) working on parallel reminiscence methods at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of NKUA. He has taught courses in Tertiary and Secondary Education for many years, where he served as Head of the KE. PLI.NET. and School Advisor for Informatics. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Informatics with Applications in Biomedicine of the University of Thessaly, a Consultant – Professor at the Hellenic Open University and a Research Associate at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National Academy of Sciences. His research interests include morpho-fractional and computational geometry, computer graphics, dynamic systems, computational complex analysis and image compression, as well as Didactics of Informatics, Computer Science and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
